"I am thrilled and honored to be a part of this team -- I hope to offer a useful and unique perspective that respects and helps push forward the stories of these plays/films. I am excited to learn more about the process of filmmaking, and to become acquainted with the other team members as fellow artists and build important community, and to continue making great work together."
- Julianna Gonzalez, Director (BLP Resident Artist)
"I'm primarily focused on creating work that I can add to my cinematography background. I don't have any films that I've shot before and I look forward to adding some to my arsenal so that I can start heading down the road to filmmaker. Which is where I ultimately want to be."
- Arrielle Mock, Cinematographer Graphic Designer (BLP Resident Artist)
“ As a multidisciplinary artist, I’ve always believed it to be my responsibility to tell the truth. However, in this “ever-changing” film industry, I’m consistently asked to portray a caricature of who we — black, gay men — are. This is a serious problem. To be blessed with the opportunity to join forces with BLP and its array of likeminded visionaries. I’m presented with the freedom to go beyond the limitations “they” put before LGBTQA artists of color. And change the narratives of our community [ourselves]. I am thoroughly honored to be apart of this residency. ”
